514 to 533 cubic inch 385 Series engine kits are based on the 4.360 bore 385 Series engine block and a 4.300 stroke crankshaft. Aftermarket cylinder heads and larger camshafts are a good addition to complement the increased capability. Custom combinations are also available for specialized applications.
Flat top pistons in a 514 to 533 Ford engine will generally provide compression ratios in the 10.2:1 range with a 100cc head, which makes them a good option for engines with aluminum heads and larger than stock camshafts. Valve reliefs are configured to work with most types of standard and aluminum cylinder heads with OEM valve placement and will normally fit camshafts to slightly over .730 valve lift.
